Network Configuration File

The purpose of nethasp.ini

The network configuration file, nethasp.ini, is used to configure the way an Orcina program accesses the dongle network server. This configuration should normally be done by your network administrator.

The nethasp.ini file tells the Orcina program what network protocols you are using. It allows configuration of both the packet timeout and session timeouts, as well as the range of machines that can use a specific Licence Manager. You can create your nethasp.ini file by adapting the template found in the Dongle\Network folder on your Orcina CD or downloaded from the Orcina web site. Usually all you need to do is to modify the NH_SERVER_ADDR = xx.xx.xx.xx line in the file to specify the IP address of your dongle server.

nethasp.ini file location

Once you have configured your nethasp.ini file you should place a copy of it on each client machine which runs the Orcina software. For OrcaFlex 9.4 onwards, the preferred location for this file is COMMONAPPDATA\Orcina. The COMMONAPPDATA folder name is resolved by Windows XP and Server 2003 to %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data, and by Windows Vista, 7, and Server 2008 to %SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData (note that the OrcaFlex.msi installation will write the file and save it to the appropriate folder for you).

For earlier versions of OrcaFlex, and other Orcina programs, the nethasp.ini file should be in the Windows search path: we recommend placing it in the folder \Windows\sysWOW64 if that folder exists (ie on machines running 64-bit Windows) or, if it doesn't, in the folder \Windows\system32.
